Size Conversion Charts

Birkenstocks are made using European sizes. This means you need to convert your familiar U.S. size to its European counterpart. Please note that Footprints, Birki Clogs, and Birkis fit one size larger than do Classics, Papillios, and Tatami styles.

When a Birkenstock fits correctly, your heel is resting completely within the heelcup and your foot fits inside the footbed with just enough extra length for movement while walking (approximately ¼-inch at the toes). When you stand, the footbed and toe bar should follow the contours of your foot. The strap closest to the toes should be snug, the other straps should be a little loose to allow the heel to lift slightly off the footbed while walking.

IMPORTANT: When ordering please indicate whether your foot is Narrow or Regular. If you have a wider width than average foot, or any sizing questions (such as odd sizing needs), please call us at (602) 242-5225 or send email. It's also a good idea to stand on a plain sheet of paper and trace an outline of your foot to help us assure you of a good fit.
