The
Birkenstock sandal and shoe is a 200 year-old
tradition of excellence. In a small German village in
1774, Johann A. Birkenstock was registered as
"subject and shoemaker."
In
1897 Johann's grandson, Konrad developed the
"Birkenstock" concept that would literally
change the shape of footware. Johann theorized that
if the shape of the shoes matched the shape of the
feet, greater comfort would be possible, thus evolved
the shoe with the contoured insole.
Today,
millions of people all over the world trust their
feet to Birkenstock.
